Roseworth Surgery is a teaching practice.This means we help train the next generation of doctors and healthcare professionals. You may meet GP Registrars, Foundation Doctors and medical students during your appointment. All GP Registrars, Foundation Doctors and medical students are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as our permanent staff. They have signed agreements to protect patient privacy in line with the NHS Code of Confidentiality and UK GDPR.

GP Registrars

GP Registrars are fully qualified doctors who are completing their specialist training in general practice. They have several years of hospital experience and are in their final stage before becoming an independent GP.

Our current GP Registrars who will be in practice until February 2026 are:

Dr Sherilyn Chew

Foundation Doctors

Foundation doctor are fully qualified doctors in their second year after graduating from medical school (known as F2) They work with us for a short placement as part of their hospital and community programme.

Our current F2s who will be in practice until December 2025 are:

Dr Sidra Khan

Medical Students

We regularly host medical students from Newcastle University as part of their training. Medical students are NOT qualified doctors and do not make clinical decision son their own.

While in practice they may:

Sit in with the GP or nurse during consultations

Take a patient history or perform an examination (with your consent)

Discuss the findings with the supervising GP.

Your Choice

You are always informed if a GP Registrar, F2 or medical student will be present in your consultation. You can choose to be seen without a trainee present. Saying “no” will not affect your care in any way.
