Movember 2026: Look after yourself, look out for others

November is nearly here, and that means Movember is back. You might know it for the moustaches, but there’s a much bigger message behind the campaign.

Movember raises awareness of men’s health, including mental health, suicide prevention and prostate and testicular cancer. It’s also a chance to start conversations, look out for the people around us and think about our own health.

Because looking after yourself and looking out for others both matter.

A closer look at men’s health

Men can face health problems that are difficult to talk about or easy to put off getting help for. This might mean struggling with mental health, worrying about a physical symptom or not knowing where to turn for advice.

Talking about these issues can help. Knowing what changes to look out for, checking in with friends and getting advice when something doesn’t feel right are all important parts of looking after our health.

Looking out for someone doesn’t mean having all the answers. Sometimes, asking how they’re doing and giving them time to talk is a good place to start.

Look beyond the moustache

Growing a moustache is one way to get involved in Movember, but it’s far from the only one.

You could:

  • Look after yourself. Knowing how to check your testicles and understanding your risk of prostate cancer are good places to start.
  • Look out for others. If a mate is having a tough time or doesn’t seem their usual self, check in with them.
  • Start a conversation. By talking openly about men’s health, you make it easier for others to do the same.
  • Get involved. Take on a Movember challenge, raise money or support someone who’s fundraising.

You don’t need to do anything elaborate. The important thing is helping to make men’s health something we can talk about openly.

Make time for your health this November

It’s easy to put our own health to the back of our minds when life gets busy. We might ignore a change we’re not sure about, avoid talking about how we’re feeling or assume something will sort itself out.

Movember is a good reminder to pay attention to your health and get advice if something is worrying you. You don’t need to wait until a problem becomes difficult to manage before asking for help.

It’s also a chance to look out for the people around you. A conversation, a message or simply asking someone how they’re doing can help them feel supported.

We’ll be sharing more practical advice during November, including what to look out for, how to support your mental health and when to seek medical advice.

This November, make time for your health. Check in with the people around you and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
