Mental Health Awareness Week 2025: The Power of Community

Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 12 to 18 May 2025. The theme this year is Community.

The week is led by the Mental Health Foundation. It helps people learn how strong communities can improve our mental health.

Why Community Matters

Being part of a community helps us feel better. It gives us support and a sense of belonging.

Your community can be your friends, family, neighbours or local groups. Feeling connected to others is good for your mind and your mood.

Simple Ways to Look After Your Mental Health

Here are five easy things you can do to take care of your mental health:

  • Talk to someone – Call a friend, meet for a coffee or join a local group.
  • Be active – Go for a walk, dance to music or do some light exercise.
  • Take notice – Look around you. Enjoy nature, the sky, or a quiet moment.
  • Help others – Kind acts, big or small, make us feel good too.
  • Keep learning – Try a new hobby or read something you enjoy.

Even small steps can make a big difference.
