Community Midwives

Alison Gibson

Alison is the midwife attached to the Practice. She provides care and advice to newly pregnant mums both during pregnancy and after birth. She can be contacted via the surgery on 0191 2132392 or her base number 0191 2823528.

The ante-natal clinic is held each Monday by appointment from 13:30 to 16:00.

Community Nurses

The district nurses are based at Kenton Clinic and provide home nursing care for patients who are unable to attend the surgery.

They can be contacted via Kenton Clinic on 0191 282 3664 and are available from 08:30 – 17:30.

Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

I obtained my Level 6 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling at Northern Guild in November 2019. I am currently continuing my studies to the Level 7 Diploma in Psychotherapy.

As part of my training, I have been completing a counselling placement at Roseworth Surgery since 2018.

I provide integrative counselling for a range of emotional problems, challenges and difficulties. Any patient who feels they would benefit from counselling can speak to a GP at the surgery, and request a referral to the counselling service.

Miss Emma Cockburn (f)

EmmaEmma is a trainee counsellor, studying integrative counselling and psychotherapy at Northern Guild in Jesmond. As part of her training, Emma is completing a placement at Roseworth Surgery. Emma is able to provide counselling for a range of emotional problems, challenges and difficulties. Any patient who feels they would benefit from counselling can speak to a GP at the surgery, and request a referral to the counselling service.

Miss Freya Bryson (f)

Freya is our counselling practitioner training with the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy and Counselling. She provides a counselling service Wednesday and Friday afternoons here at the surgery. Freya has a strong interest in creative methods as part of her practice. 

Social Prescriber

Miss Amber McCrone (f)

AmberAmber is our in practice Social Prescribing Link Worker. She did her undergraduate Psychology and Masters Health Psychology at Northumbria University, and graduated in 2019. 

She has recently relocated from Chorley (Lancashire) to Newcastle to deliver social prescribing as part of the Ways to Wellness Team.

Miss Sarah McGuiness

Sarah is out Social Prescribing Link Worker. She works across the primary care network visiting older patients at home as part of a project to reduce clinical contacts and hospital admissions by providing non clinical support and empowering patients to take greater control of their health.

She is also working to create links between GP surgeries and pre-existing community support and groups as well as setting up new groups in the area focusing on social isolation and exercise.
